Been Awhile....

Well, the studio is finally done and I am completely moved in! I was worried that if I moved spaces, I would have a long and difficult adjustment period. The new space feels like home. It is so wonderful to be able to actually move around and work on multiple pieces at once. In the old studio, I had space enough to only work on one piece at a time. Check out the pictures of the new space below.

This is a piece I finished in the Spring. It was used for the show card for my show at Chadron State College that opens the first of October.

One more bit of good news......I am happy to announce that I have signed on with the art consulting firm Soho Myriad out of Atlanta.

Exciting News!

My opening at Lyndsay McCandless Gallery in Jackson Hole, WY was fun. Thanks Lyndsay, Sam, and Natalie!

The drive from Lander to Jackson for the opening...yes this is in June...it is Wyoming after all!

I found out in early June that I was one of three Wyoming artists to win a 2008 Wyoming Arts Council Fellowship Award. The award comes with a cash prize and a show in 2009.

The money that I won from the Fellowship will be put towards the construction of a free standing studio in my backyard. I have already started building and am thrilled to have more space to work. I borrowed the idea for the structure from a company out of California called modern sheds. Their structures look sleek and modern, mine however is looking more and more like a shed for horses. I guess it fits with my "Western" surroundings.

One last thing, I was invited to make a piece for a show at the Lark and Key Gallery in North Carolina. The show is titled "The Song cathcer Show" and is comprised of work inspired by music. I made a piece titled "Miles from Monterey" by West Indian Girl.

2 Weeks

Well, I am down to the wire for my show at Lyndsay McCandless opening June 6. As usual and in true painter fashion I still have two pieces that I am working on. I am going to deliver the work on Friday and then immediately start working for my next show.

Now that I am done with teaching for the summer, I am thoroughly enjoying my studio time. I have been putting in 6 or more hours a day painting...it is fantastic!
